How to convert an xps file to jpg

Updated February 21, 2017

XPS files are an alternative to PDF files. These Windows-based files retain the formatting of documents sent via e-mail or uploaded onto the Internet. XPS files do not necessarily need to be Word documents and can contain images. However, many image editor programs are not going to recognise the XPS file format. If this is the case you need to convert it to a more popular and widely used format such as JPG (also known as JPEG).

Download and install an XPS to JPEG converter. Although there are a variety of different XPS file converters available on the Web, most only convert the file to PDF. You can find an actual XPS to JPG file converter at JPG2XPS.com or Pagemarktechnology.com.

Launch the converter program. Wait for the software to load completely, then click and drag the XPS file into the main viewing window of the program.

Select an output location, then choose a format (if asked). In this case you want it to be JPG (or JPEG).

Click "convert" (or "go," depending on the software you are using). The XPS file is now converted to the JPG image format.
