To order a restore disc, memory, replacement CD-ROM drive or other part for your Hewlett-Packard (HP) laptop you need to know its model number. The model number is a unique alphanumeric or numeric code used to identify the particular version of your laptop. Each and every HP laptop and related hardware contains a model number. The model number, along with the serial number, is imprinted on your laptop.
Pick up the laptop and turn it upside down.
Place the laptop on your lap or flat surface--desk or counter.
Look for a white sticker on the upside-down HP laptop.
Look for "p/n"--the number next to this heading is the model number.
Write down the model number on a piece of paper so you will have it in case you need to use it in the future.
The number next to the "s/n" heading is the serial number.
