To order a restore disc, memory, replacement CD-ROM drive or other part for your Hewlett-Packard (HP) laptop you need to know its model number. The model number is a unique alphanumeric or numeric code used to identify the particular version of your laptop. Each and every HP laptop and related hardware contains a model number. The model number, along with the serial number, is imprinted on your laptop.

    Look for a white sticker on the upside-down HP laptop.
