How to Add AOL Contacts to Outlook

Longtime users of the AOL service have likely stored a significant number of e-mail contacts in their address books. If you have another e-mail account outside of AOL, you may want to consider transferring your AOL contacts to the new e-mail address. A service from AOL called AOL Sync allows customers to synchronise their AOL address books with their contact lists in the Microsoft Outlook application.

Instructions

    Go to the AOL Sync home page (see Resources) in any Web browser.

    Log on to the AOL Sync home page with your AOL screen name and password.

    Click on the "Outlook Download Software" link on the right side of the page.

    Complete the download and installation process for the AOL Outlook Sync software. This process will install an add-in to Outlook that will allow the program to communicate with your AOL account.

    Launch the Microsoft Outlook application and log on to your e-mail account.

    Go to the "Options" menu at the top of the window and choose "Funambol." A pop-up window with the AOL Sync options will open.

    Click on the "Account" tab on the left side of the window.

    Enter your AOL screen name in the "Username" field and your AOL password in the "Password" field.

    Go to the "Sync" tab and make sure the check box next to "Contacts" is checked.

    Hit the "OK" button to save the AOL Sync settings and add your AOL contacts to Outlook.
