How to Create a Dolly Parton Costume

Updated March 23, 2017

Dolly Parton is a beloved entertainer. She has had her hand on the pulse of all things entertainment. From performing concerts to sold out crowds to running her own theme park, Dolly has done it all! Here is how you can create a Dolly Parton costume if your own.

Choose a long, big blonde wig. Spray and tease the ends so that you have nice big hair! It's an important part of the "Dolly" look.

Do your make-up. Wear a bright, red lipstick. Think "more is more" when it comes to your eye make-up. Look like the diva you are portraying.

Put on a padded bra. You will need this in order to have an authentic-looking costume.

Put on a form fitting red shirt. You should show off "her" assets in a classy way! It isn't low-cut, but it is form fitting.

Put on a short skirt. This should match the red shirt, but it can be in the colour of your choice.

Put on pantyhose and red high heels. You want to get the whole look all together now.

Have your nails done, or do them yourself. They should be long and red. Fake nails are probably your best bet with this costume unless you've been growing yours for a long time.

Be sure to practice your southern accent before stepping out in Dolly gear!

Don't go over the top with the costume. You don't want to make a mockery of this great entertainer. The costume should be done as a tribute and with taste.
