Finding friends on Facebook can me done numerous ways. The following article will give you a few examples on how you can find friends and family to reconnect with. The more friends you find, the easier it will be to come across those that you no longer have contact information for.
Type your friend's name in the search engine that Facebook provides. This will come up with results that include any part of your friend's name. You can then browse the listings and see if you find the exact person you're looking for. This may take the longest, as Facebook will give you the results from every network.
Use the "Find Friends" option that Facebook has. This tool will have you enter your friends' e-mail addresses and they will then show you matches for people that have registered with that address. This is probably one of the easiest ways to find a friend if you know their e-mail address.
Import your buddies on AIM and Windows Live Messenger. This is also found on the "Find Friends" webpage. For this, you will either need to enter in your AIM screen name and password, or your Windows Live ID.
Type in your own e-mail address so Facebook will search your address book to find any matches within their system. You can then browse the results and request a friend confirmation.
Visit the pages of your friend's friends. You can then find people that you know, but may have forgotten to originally search for. Of course, this way works best if you don't know a person's full name or e-mail address, but you do know that they're friends with the same person as you are.
Search the "People You May Know" list that is also found on the "Find Friends" page. This list is formed by listing friends that the people you have already found have on their friend's list.
The more information you have on a person, the easier it will be for Facebook to find them.
