How to enhance green eyes

Updated April 17, 2017

Green eyes can range in hue from dark emerald to a light green that appears nearly grey. Because green eyes are inherited by fewer people than brown or blue eyes, it's likely that if you have them, you'll want to flaunt them. Luckily, there are steps you can take with your dress and grooming to make sure that your green eyes will be noticed.

Wear clothing that will complement your eyes. The lightness of green eyes will really pop when contrasted against dark clothing in colours like black and brown. Wearing green clothing also can help your green eyes appear brighter.

Accessorise your outfits with items that highlight your eye colour. Silver and turquoise jewellery will bring out the green colour of your eyes. If you wear glasses, consider a wire-rimmed or frameless style that allows your eye colour to stand out.

Use eye make-up in warm shades of gold, brown, purple and peach. These colours are opposite green on the colour wheel, which means they are complementary to green and make it appear brighter when the colours are placed side-by-side.

Consider changing your hair colour if you'd like to do something a little more permanent to help your eye colour stand out. Green eyes will look brightest when paired with black, dark brown or auburn hair.
