A winter wonderland theme is ideal for occasions that take place during colder months of the year, such as Christmas. You can create a winter wonderland in your home by adorning rooms with white and sparkly accessories, such as tree branches that you have decorated to make them look snow-covered or dusted with frost. Collections of dry, bare branches are easily found in areas such as your garden or local woodland and can be transformed to match your wintry theme.

  1. 1

Cut your selected tree branches to the size you require. Place the branches onto sheets of newspaper in an outside area or in a well-ventilated part of your home.

  2. 2

Spray the branches lightly and evenly with silver or white spray-on paint. Leave the branches to dry.

  3. 3

Spray the painted branches lightly with spray-on adhesive. Pour silver glitter into a large, dry and shallow container, such as a dry tray. Hold the branches over the tray and sprinkle the glitter over them. Tap the branches gently to shake off the excess glitter into the tray.

  4. 4

Dab PVA glue onto the top surfaces of random sections of the branches. Sprinkle epsom salts over the glue to create a subtle effect of snow build up along the branches. Leave the branches to dry.

  5. 5

Cut a piece of florist's foam to fit the bottom section of your chosen vase or container. Secure the branches by pushing their stems into the foam. If you're using a clear vase, use pale-coloured foam, and once the branches are secure, fill the vase with clear or white plastic beads, white sand or white sugar crystals to cover the foam.
