Sweet gift ideas for a boyfriend

Whether you want to celebrate your one-month anniversary or would like to give your boyfriend something special "just because," many options are open to you.

A gift doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming to put together to be sweet, so consider your boyfriend's interests, how he likes to spend his time, and what his favourite activities are. Choose a gift that celebrates the person he is, which will let him know how much you care about him just as he is.

Romantic Map

Print out a map of your city and mark the places where you have had meaningful moments. Put star or heart stickers next to the places where you first kissed, where you went on your first date, and where you realised you were in love with each other. If you are in a long-distance relationship, use a large world map. Add places you would love to visit together on the map and decorate it with stickers and notes.

Music Mix CD

A mix CD is an entertaining way to introduce your boyfriend to music you know he will love, and you can personalise it even further by adding commentary tracks between the songs. Keep the commentaries short, but use them to let him know why you think he'll love a particular song and what it reminds you of. If you sing, round out the CD with a song that you sing for him. If you play a musical instrument, record a track at the end with a song you have written or a song you know he likes.

Fill a hamper basket with your boyfriend's favourite foods and take him out for a relaxing afternoon. Choose a bright, sunny day and spread a blanket out in a local park. Just spend the time enjoying each others' company. If you live in an area that is not conducive to being outdoors for long stretches of time, spread the blanket on the floor at home and have an indoor picnic. Doing something just a little bit out of the ordinary is a delight in the middle of a dull day.

Record a Story

If your boyfriend has a long drive to work or if he travels a great deal, give him something to listen to with his own audiobook. Take the time to record yourself reading him his favourite book or a series of short stories you know he will like. This way, he can enjoy his favourite stories while hearing them read in your voice. You can make CDs like this for him regularly or just for a special occasion.
