How to Get a Gear Knob Off a Renault Megane II

The Renault Megane II is a compact sportscar that was first released in the United Kingdom in 2002 and discontinued in 2008. The Megane II was offered with either a four-cylinder engine or a diesel engine. Its popularity grew when crash test ratings were released, and the Megane II received a top rating of five stars. The Megane II's bold interior style came in a variety of colour choices, with accents to match every personality. Its shift knob is a standard leather knob that can be easily removed.

  1. Turn off the Renault engine, and pull up on the emergency brake to engage it.

  2. Pull the manual shifter out of gear and leave it in neutral. Push the leather shifter boot in a little.

  3. Grasp the shift knob firmly and twist it counterclockwise, releasing its thread until the shift knob pops off.
