How do I Get the Samsung Q1 to Boot Via USB?

Samsung's Q1 is an Ultra-Mobile PC, which is similar to a tablet computer but has a QWERTY keyboard and a touchpad instead of a touchscreen. Samsung launched the Q1 on May 1st, 2006. Unlike many tablets, the Q1 is very flexible in regard to booting and operating system choice. The Q1 can even boot from a USB memory stick or drive.

  1. Turn on the Q1.

  2. Press the "Menu" button when you see the "SAMSUNG" splash screen. The BIOS menu will open.

  3. Select the "Boot" option on the BIOS menu bar.

  4. Select the "Boot Device Priority" menu item and press the "Enter" key. The Boot Device Priority menu will open.

  5. Use the "u1" button to move the "Removable Devices" entry to the top of the list.

  6. Press the "u4" button to exit the Boot Device Priority menu.

  7. Select the "Exit" option on the BIOS menu bar.

  8. Insert the USB device from which you want to boot.

  9. Select the "Exit Saving Changes" menu item and press the "Enter" key. The Q1 will reboot using the USB device as the primary boot device.
