How to Turn an Excel Spreadsheet Into a Stand-alone Application
A stand-alone application is something that does not require any one computer program to open. In the case of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, you would need your computer to have Excel installed on it in order to view its contents. That is, unless you turn it into a stand-alone application.
Once you export your file to a very specific file format, it will be able to be opened on any computer running the Windows operating system.
Double-click on your Excel spreadsheet file to open Microsoft Excel on your computer. Excel will then open the spreadsheet file and display its content on-screen.
Click "Excel Services."
Click "Save" to turn your Excel spreadsheet document into a stand-alone application. If someone attempts to open the file and does not have Excel installed on their computer, it will open in their Web browser.
