You can get a .scr virus from just about anywhere on the Internet, but typically the .scr virus comes from opening e-mails infected with the content. Most antivirus programs are not able to remove the file because it is write protected, however, it is still possible to delete the file from your computer before it begins destroying data and taking over the system.
Shut down your computer.
Restart the computer, then continue to press the "F8" key until a start-up screen appears. Choose to start Windows in "Safe Mode" and press the "Enter" key.
Open "My Computer" (or "Computer") when Windows loads.
Click the "C:" drive icon, then "Windows" and "System."
Look for a file marked "WINLODR.SCR," right-click it and select "Delete." The file is removed from your computer. Shut down the system and restart it. The computer will boot back up in its standard mode.
