How to Clean a PS3 Laser Disc

If you receive a play disc error on your PlayStation 3, you may need to clean the disc you are attempting to access. For the disc drive to operate, you place a media disc into the disc drive, and then the information on the disc is read by a laser installed in the system. If the disc is dirty, it can cause an error when the laser attempts to read the disc data.

Instructions

    Hold the disc in one hand, with the bottom of the disc facing upward.

    Wipe the disc gently, starting in the innermost circle of the disc then moving in a straight line out to the edge.

  3. 3

    Wipe the rest of the disc until the surface is clean.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not wipe the disc using circular motions to avoid scratching the disc.
