Healthy snack foods for dogs contain ingredients like meat, dairy, eggs, chicken stock and olive oil -- and can even be vegetarian. Avoid feeding any snacks that contain raisins or grapes, which can be fatal to dogs. An easy snack idea that will keep your dog busy: buy a bone that is hollow on the inside. Fill with peanut butter. Freeze. Give to your dog, and watch him enjoy trying to get the peanut butter out from inside the bone.

Liver Snaps

0.454kg. beef liver 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup cornmeal 12 - 14 cloves garlic 2 eggs

Purée liver and garlic together in blender or food processor. Stir in eggs, cornmeal and whole wheat flour. Pour mixture onto greased baking tray. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees, turn over and bake another 10 minutes. Cut into small squares. Freeze or refrigerate to keep fresh.

Liver Brownies

0.907kg chicken livers 2 cups corn meal 2 cups wheat germ 2 eggs 2 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 cup dried parsley

Mix livers in blender or food processor. Stir into mixing bowl with the other ingredients. Spread into greased baking tray. Bake at 177 degrees Cor half an hour. After cooling, cut into squares. Refrigerate to keep fresh.


Easy Biscuits

1 3/4 cups flour 2 tsp wheat germ 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup sesame seeds rind of 1 lemon 12 tsp butter or margarine 1/2 cup ground walnuts 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix ingredients together. Knead to blend completely. Divide the dough into 6 parts. Roll each into a tube. Chop each tube into 6 round biscuits. Place on baking tray and bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

Beef and Rice Biscuits

1 jar vegetable and beef baby food 2 1/2 cups white flour 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup rice 1 package unflavored gelatin 1 egg 2 tbs vegetable oil 1 cup powdered milk 1 package yeast 1/4 cup warm water 1 beef bouillon cube

Let yeast dissolve in warm water. Mix dry ingredients together. Mix in baby food, yeast, egg, oil, and dissolved beef bouillon. Mixture should be dry. Knead together to form a ball. Roll onto floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Invert and press a small drinking glass down to cut circles in dough. Bake for half an hour at 300 degrees.

Peanut Butter Treats

½ cup water ½ cup oil 2 eggs 3 tbs peanut butter 2 tsp vanilla 2 cups flour ½ cup cornmeal ½ cup oats

Mix wet ingredients together. Mix dry ingredients together and stir into wet ingredients until dough ball is formed. Roll out and cut into desired shapes. Cook on greased baking tray in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes. Turn off oven and leave biscuits inside to get nice and crunchy.

Peanut Butter Potato Bones

1 package dry yeast 1/2 cup lukewarm water 1 cup mashed potatoes 1 cup milk 1/4 cup molasses 1/2 cup chicken stock 1 cup chunky peanut butter 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup rye flour 1/2 cup rice flour 1 egg 2 cups white flour

Dissolve yeast in water. In a saucepan, stir together milk, molasses, potatoes, chicken stock and peanut butter until boiling. Let cool. Add yeast. Mix in rye, wheat, egg, and rice flour. Add whit flour until dough becomes stiff. Knead for 3 minutes. Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Place on baking trays, bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Cool on counter overnight for crispiness. Freeze portions for extra hardness.

PB and Honey Squares

3 tbs honey 3 tbs peanut butter 1 banana
454gr plain yoghurt

Mix peanut butter, honey, and fruit together in blender. Add in the yoghurt, blend again. Freeze concoction in ice cube trays. Use as needed.
