Karaoke is a favorite pastime for many individuals around the world in bars, restaurants and even house parties. Karaoke discs can be played on most DVD players and computer systems. The discs can be burned on some computer optical drives.
Karaoke Discs and CD Burners
Karaoke CDs can be burned on a CD burner but they have to be able to burn CD+G discs. CD+G stands for compact disc plus graphics. CD+G discs contain audio, text and pictures. When these discs are played on a DVD player, both elements are displayed. To test your CD burner to see if it can burn CD+G, visit Cdspeed2000.com and follow the on-screen directions.
Compatible CD+G Software
If your drive is capable of burning CD+G discs, you must use a CD burning program that can also create karaoke CD+G discs. One such program is Nero Burn. Under the menu option "Nero InfoTool" then on the "Drive" tab, you can select the check box by "CD+G" to enable burning karaoke discs. On other programs this option may by under the "Preferences" or "Setup" menu. This CD+G option will burn both the music and graphics portions that make up the karaoke disc. CDRWIN is another program for burning karaoke discs.
Other Options
If your CD burner can't burn CD+G discs, there are other options, including burning the songs and graphics as a video compact disc. VCDs can be played on most DVD and computer CD-ROM drives. Another option is to replace your current CD burner with a drive that can burn karaoke discs. Check to make sure the new drive is listed as CD+G, RAW+96 or DAO/96 compatible. Also, make sure it is compatible with the CD burning software you have on your system. Contact the software manufacturer to see if the drive will work.
Karaoke DVD Burner
Karaoke DVD Burner is a free CD burning package that is an alternative to Nero Burn and CDRWIN. Karaoke DVD Burner compiles and burns karaoke discs that can be played on your DVD player or computer DVD drive. The program can also consolidate multiple karaoke discs onto one disc.
