Daily Diet to Avoid Loose Stools

Loose stools (commonly referred to as a form of diarrhoea) are unpleasant and unhealthy. A healthy stool should be medium brown in colour and have a bulky, somewhat firm consistency. Healthy stools can be obtained by adding proper foods rich in nutrients and fibre and hydration.

Eat Fiber Rich Foods

Found in nuts, whole grain rice, breads and cereals, insoluble dietary fibre won't dissolve in water. That means your body will pass a more bulky stool as a result of adding these foods to your diet. Diets with increased levels of insoluble fibre also have decreased risk of other diseases such as diabetes.

The Way You Eat

To help change how your how your body responds to the food you eat, change the way you've been eating it. In order to avoid loose stools, eat slowly and consume more frequent meals. Instead of three large meals, have six small ones. Another helpful suggestion is to snack every few hours on healthy, high-fibre snacks such as nuts and whole fruits.

Drink More Clear Liquids

It may seem counterintuitive, but drinking more water will help you to avoid a loose stool. It is recommended that you drink one cup of liquid after each bowel movement. The best liquids to drink are clear ones like water, ginger ale and clear sodas. Limit your intake of coffee which can cause a more frequent loose stool.
