Hi, my name is Juan Carlos with Expert Village, and today I'm going to show you how to become a competitive baseball player. In this segment, we're going to talk about eating and hydration before and after a game. Now, as far as hydration is concerned, you definitely want to drink water or any type of sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade, etc. Now, approximately 24 hours before a game, you must be able to hydrate yourself. That is probably one of the most important things that people forget to do is hydration before a game. And we're not talking about not only on the day, it has to be approximately 24 hours before a game. Maintain the hydration and maintain a good eating regimen throughout the season, but when it comes in terms of a game, you want to have meals that have a lot of carbs, like pasta, or any type of Italian meal -- spaghetti, in order to burn the carbs as you're going to be active during a game. Also, it's important to note on non-game days, that you want to be able to eat a healthy meal consistently. Chicken, fish, vegetables. Also, drink water with your meals as opposed to juice or soda, as soda has high levels of sugar and carbon dioxide, which completely destroy your muscles, and you don't want to be able to put that stuff in your body, as your body's a well-oiled machine, and you want to be able to put the right foods in your body in order to continue to grow your muscles and also to have the energy necessary throughout practice and in a game with the right foods that you put in your body.
