Like any piece of furniture, swivel chairs may need repair after being used over an extended period of time. Often, squeaks arise in these chairs, and they can be an annoyance in a work setting. The problem can typically be located in the joints of the chair where there is little lubrication. Within a few minutes, however, this problem can be easily solved with a can of WD-40. You don't have to be an experienced handy man to get rid of a few pesky squeaks.

Flip the chair over so you can see all of the constructed areas. Be sure to wear gloves because parts of your chair may already come with greased nuts and bolts, and the gloves will save you a mess.

Wiggle and spin various parts of the chair to find where the squeak is coming from.

Open your can of WD-40, and attach the Smart Straw to the nozzle. Hold the can 2 to 3 inches away from the problem area, measuring from the tip of the Smart Straw.

Spray the WD-40 on the squeaky joint of the chair. Apply as much as needed. Typically, holding down the spray for no more than two to three seconds will do the trick.

Flex the joint back and forth to help the liquid seep in to the problem area.

TIP

Check to make sure that the nuts and bolts are securely fastened to the chair before you use WD-40, as they may be the problem of squeaks.

WARNING

Spraying WD-40 too close to the joint may result in using more liquid than desired.
