Which games you can play on an Eee PC depends on the details of your particular system. As of January 2011, the Eee PC can ship with your choice of either Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system or Linux. The Eee PC also comes with Intel's Atom processor, which was designed for netbooks and has limited processing power. However, while the hardware can not handle many new gaming releases, the hardware can handle playing some older games.

If your Eee PC has the Windows operating system, then you can play the original Deus Ex video game. While there have been some sequels, the original Deus Ex can run on netbook hardware. The action role playing game (RPG) is set in a futuristic world with the player assuming the role of a counter-terrorism agent with cyborg-like biological enhancements. This game is available through the Steam gaming platform.
Frets on Fire
If your Eee PC shipped with Linux you can play "Frets on Fire." This Guitar Hero-like title allows you to use the keyboard to simulate fretting popular songs. The game can be played with either the keyboard or a guitar controller, includes a song editor for making your own tunes, lets you download song simulations composed by the gaming community and also supports importing Guitar Hero I and II song files. Frets on Fire is also available for Windows and Mac OS X.
The original Doom game, Doom Legacy, is another game that will run on both Linux and Windows based Eee PCs. While not designed explicitly for netbooks, the game was designed so long ago that even weak (by modern standards) netbook hardware is more than sufficient to run the game. The game is free to install and played a huge part in defining what modern "shooter" video games are today.
