Tween parties are meant for those in the range of eleven to 12 years old. Tweens are those who aren't children, but aren't teenagers yet either. The tweens are too old for cartoon character parties and other child-driven ideas. Alternately, they may not be ready for teen-themed parties either. Throw a tween's 12th birthday party by balancing both child and teenage likes that is suitable for an all-boy or co-ed guest list.

Group Bike Ride

Invite the boys to your house, for a local bike ride. Pick a destination before the party and map out an easy route to the location. Plan for a picnic lunch, once the boys arrive at the destination. Serve cold sandwiches or buy a selection of meats and cheeses. Bring condiments and bread so the boys can make their own sandwiches. Serve the sandwiches with pretzels, chips, potato salad, coleslaw and pasta salad. Pack everything in coolers and take to the spot, while the boys ride there. Ask another parent or adult to supervise the group, as they bike to the location. Serve food at the destination and offer cake. Alternatively, serve the cake when the boys bike back to your house.

Campout Party

Host a campout party at your house for the 12-year-old boys. Borrow tents from friends and family or let the boys sleep outside, under the stars. An outdoor fireplace or wood burning stove, provides a cooking area and both work for making s'mores. Buy a wide variety of candy bars, sprinkles, flavoured marshmallows and graham crackers. Let the boys mix and match the ingredients, to make their own customised s'mores. Inexpensive roasting sticks, let the boys roast their own hot dogs, over the fire. Serve with ketchup, mustard and other condiments. Before going to bed for the night, take turns sharing ghost stories around the fire.

Skating and Skateboarding Party

Reserve a few hours at your local skate park, which gives your group full reign of the area, rather than sharing the area with others. Send out invitations, asking the boys to bring their rollerblades or skateboard, with them to the party. Run relay races and other events for the party guests and award small prizes to the winners. Treat the boys to a skateboard shaped cake, at the end of the party. Alternatively, hold a skate Olympics, complete with different events and judges awarding scores to all participants. Give individual medals, awards or prizes to the top winners in each event.
