The Zanussi Washer/Dryer, made by Electrolux, is a favourite because it both washes and dries laundry in the same machine, saving space, time and labour. Electrolux appliances are well known for their quality and style and feature a simple user interface that alerts you to a malfunction within the machine. When the machine's memory detects a problem, an error code appears in the display screen. Each code corresponds to a specific part and remains displayed as long as that part is not working. Most issues are easily fixed, but if the error code persists, contact a service centre for a more in-depth repair.

E10

The E10 error code means that the machine is not filling with water properly during the wash cycle. Examine the incoming water tap (on the wall) to ensure it is open. Try turning it as far to the left as it will go. If it's open, see that the water inlet hose is not kinked or damaged in any way as this could block proper water flow. If the ground is wet underneath the machine, it means there is a leak somewhere in the length of the hose or where the hose connects to the tap or the machine. A leak will siphon water away from the machine, triggering the error code. If the hose is in good repair, unscrew it from the tap and use a stiff brush to clean the filter screen. Reconnect the hose to the tap, and restart the cycle. If the problem persists, contact a service centre.

E20

The E20 error code indicates a problem with water drainage. Inspect the drainage hose for kinks that could impede the drainage flow. This frequently occurs when the machine is pushed up against the wall without allowing room for the hoses. If there are no kinks, the hose is probably clogged. Carefully detach the hose from the machine, and use a garden hose to force water through it. If the water doesn't pass through, use a plumber's snake to clear the clog. If there is no clog, inspect the drain pump for clogs. Unplug the machine, and open the small rectangular door towards the bottom of the front of the machine. Drain the pump through the emptying hose into a container until the water flow stops, and rotate the pump impeller to clear any foreign objects. Close the pump and restart the cycle. If the problem persists, contact a service centre.

E40

The E40 error code indicates that the machine senses that the door is open. Ensure the door is securely closed. If the code persists, open the door, see that no clothing is interfering with the door latch and reclose the door. If the code remains displayed, there is possibly a problem with either the door sensor or the door latch itself. Attempting to replace these parts yourself can invalidate your warranty, so contact a service centre for repairs.
