Some of today’s gamers may not realise this, but speedway bike video games have actually been around since the late 1970s. Titles such as Atari’s “Stunt Cycle,” which was released in 1977, helped pave the way for today’s speedway bike video games. Moreover, many of today’s speedway games can be played from nearly any home computer that is available on the market today.
“Cycle Speedway” is a Flash game that can be played in any Flash-compatible web browser. The game gives players a racing experience from a third-person perspective. Gamers will race on a cement course that is set within a grassy landscape. The 3D environment comes complete with cartoon-like trees and obstacles. These types of obstacles won’t make your racer crash his bike, but they will slow you down and cause you to lose some ground on your competitors. Your racer increases in speed as you progress through winding corners of the racecourse, allowing for some particularly high speeds at the end of the track.
“Icestorm Speedway” provides a different take on the sport, and lets players race through each course in snowy and muddy conditions in the very first race. Gamers must finish in first place to continue on to additional race tracks. Players can choose between one of three riders, each of which is outfitted in a different colour uniform: green, blue and red. Races consist of at least six laps, which must be completed by you and two other, CPU-controlled opponents. The ability to turn the in-game sound off lets gamers choose their own soundtrack for this fast-paced speedway bike game.
3D Motorcycle Race
“3D Motorcycle Race” is a Flash game that provides a motorcycle speedway experience within your web browser. The game features fully rendered, 3D graphics and a total of five separate tracks. Only two race tracks are available at the start of the game. New ones can be unlocked by finishing in first place in the other courses. Players can choose between two different bikes, each of which has its own performance stats. Five different colour schemes are also available for riders. The game’s winding courses can make “3D Motorcycle Race” extremely challenging, and driving your bike off-course will slow you down tremendously.
“Speedway 2005” provides a bird’s-eye view of speedway bike racing. Players will race against three other competitors around an oval-shaped track, with the fastest bike taking first place. Multiplayer functionality is available in “Speedway 2005.”
