If you are planning a circus-themed birthday party for your child, design coordinating craft decor. Create circus-inspired crafts to hang on walls, doors and tables. As an interactive party activity, have kids make their own clown hat or shoes. Set up a craft table filled with markers, paints, tape, coloured paper, stickers, yarn and other decorative items. Party-goers can take the crafts home as festive favours.

Ringmaster's Megaphone

Circus ringmaster megaphones make interactive party favours and projects. Decorate a brightly coloured piece of construction paper with stickers, markers or craft paints. Roll the paper into a megaphone shape, and secure it with a piece of tape or a few staples.

Elephant Trunk

If your child loves seeing elephants at the circus, design an elephant trunk craft. Paint a paper towel roll grey. When the paint is dry, use scissors to poke two holes near one end of the roll. Cut two 2-foot-long pieces of yarn, and tie one end of each to each roll hole. Tie the pieces of yarn around a child's face so that the roll becomes as elephant trunk.

Clown Hat

Make homemade clown hats that children can wear to the circus, on Halloween or during a birthday party. Cut a triangle out of card stock or poster board, making sure that the bottom edge of the shape is large enough to fit around the child's head. Decorate the triangle shape using crayons, markers, stickers, glitter glue or craft paint. Roll the triangle into a cone hat shape, and staple the edges together. Staple a piece of elastic across the bottom so that the hat stays on the child's head. Snip the top point of the hat off, and glue on a yarn pom-pom.

Paper Plate Lion

Transform plain paper plates into circus lions. Decorate the front of a paper plate with orange paint to resemble a lion's face. Glue a strip of brown faux fur around the perimeter of the plate as the lion's mane. Adhere large plastic googly eyes to the plate, and create a nose and a mouth using markers. Children can display the lion face on the refrigerator or in their bedrooms to commemorate a trip to the circus.
