Bat-Signal

When Commissioner Gordon needs Batman to come and save the day, he goes to the roof of Gotham City's Police Headquarters and turns on the Bat-Signal and shines it into the skies for all to see. If you want the kids to come running, simply turn on the bat cake. You can either make a standard round or sheet cake and decorate it with the Batman symbol or pick up a bat-shaped cake pan and have the entire cake look like the signal light.

Make sure to use the dark blue and yellow coloured icing to get the exact look. If you are unfamiliar with the design of the Bat-Signal, swing by your local comic book store or go to your local video store and look for the 1989 Batman movie, which has the Batman logo and nothing else on the movie case.

Bat Scene

Make a sheet or round cake with plenty of surface area. Then stop by the local toy or comic book store and pick up some small Batman action figures, including villains. Decorate the cake to look like an alley in Gotham City and arrange the action figures on the cake to look like Batman is confronting the villains just like in the comic books. After the cake is long gone the action figures will still be a hit with the kids and a reminder to you of a job well done.

Bat Shapes

Many retailers sell various Batman shaped cakes. From full figures of the caped crusader to busts or face shots, your choices will be numerous. Once you have chosen the right cake pan, prepare the cake and decorate per the directions that come with the pan.

Local Bakery

Many local bakeries have books with pictures for various cake designs. Some designs even come with their own packages of shaped candles and other accessories. If you have more than one bakery in your area, stop by several and thumb through their catalogues to see what sort of cakes they offer. Oftentimes you can have them change a few details to customise the cake however you might want it to look.
