Hobart dishwashers are at the higher-priced end of dishwashers and are usually used in the food service industry. Many come with unique features such as service diagnostics, the ability to clean 30 racks per hour, and de-lime notification to alert you when it's time to add liquid to eliminate lime deposits. Troubleshooting problems yourself can save you the call to customer service may take.

Not Filling with Water; Wash Tank Hot Heating

If your Hobart dishwasher is not filling with water, or is filling too slowly, you may have a dirty line strainer. This can cause reduced water flow. Clean the screens. Debris in the upper and lower fill floats can restrict movement and cause filling problems.

If your wash tank is not getting warm, your water level may be too low. The low water safety device will turn off the heat if the water level is below acceptable levels. Your owner's manual (see References) will have instructions on proper levels for your model.

Rinse Cycle Doesn't Stop

If your machine's Continuous Rinse Operation will not stop running, and your machine is equipped with a rinse actuator, the actuator may not be moving freely. If the rinse actuator switch has failed or the rinse valve has failed or is jammed open, call a technician.

If your dishwasher comes equipped with a Photoelectric Sensor Rinse, the sensors may be blocked. Consult the owner's manual (see References) has instructions for cleaning them. Some models have both upper and lower sensors, while have only an upper one. If neither indicator light is flashing, replace the sensors.

Valve Leaks

A leaking valve may be caused by an obstruction. At times, right after installation, pipe compound or metal shavings can lodge at the valve seat. Shut off the supply line and then unscrew and lift the bonnet from the valve body. Reassemble the valve after you clean it. If your problem is with the solenoid valve, which is the piece that engages the gate arm, contact a technician or call customer service.
