As a parent you want to keep your child safe. This includes using the right equipment to help keep them safe in the home, while on vacation and while visiting friends and family. The use of the playpen has been known to help keep children safe, but it has other advantages as well, such as creating a convenient nap location, shower breaks and giving parents a hands-free way to watch their children while working.

Parent Time

The playpen is an area where you can place your infant or young toddler with a few toys and a blanket and have your hands free for a few other things. Playpens allow parents time to take a shower, tend to a phone call or even check the mail without worrying where their little one is going to run off to when their eyes are not on them.

A playpen can be a helpful place to set your child while you have guests over. It gives your child the chance to be in the same room as you and your guests, but also keeps the child out of harm's way and your hands free to entertain.

Playpens are safe enough areas for a child to take a nap. For parent's that want to keep an eye on their child while they are napping, a playpen can be placed in a room where the parent is working and the child set inside for a nap. That way the parent can check in on the child throughout the nap without having to go to another room.

Bassinet Features

Most modern playpens also come with a bassinet feature. This can be helpful with parents who have a newborn, so that they do not have to frequently bend over the playpen to pick up their little one. The bassinet also gives the newborn a more secure environment where they can see their parent move about the room.

Outdoor Safety

For parents who need to do some outside gardening, but need to keep their little one nearby and within their line of sight, a playpen can do just that. These pens can be placed outdoors in a shaded, grassy area so that your child can play while you attend to your garden, mow the lawn or water a few plants.

Often when you travel you cannot bring along a crib, and some hotels do not offer cribs to use. Rather than having your child sleep in the same bed with you, you can bring your portable playpen and use it for sleeping. Ensure that your playpen is a portable crib and manufactured for both play and sleep safety.
