Light blue and yellow are colours that complement each other beautifully. This colour combination is a nice choice for spring and early summer weddings. This combination reflects the blooming flowers and gentle light before the bright summer sun takes over. No matter your taste and budget, there are several light blue and yellow decoration options for your wedding.

Bridesmaid Dresses

Though your close friends and family are there to support you as bridesmaids, their outfits are also an important decorative element for the wedding. As a result, it's ideal to incorporate pale blue and yellow in their appearance. There are several options for doing this. For example, some bridesmaids could wear pale blue while others wear yellow. Additionally, your bridesmaids could wear yellow with pale blue accents, or vice versa, such as a pale blue dress with a yellow sash, shoes and bouquets.

Your flowers, from the bridal bouquet to the bridesmaid flowers to table centrepieces, can incorporate your light blue and yellow theme. Cornflowers, hydrangeas, delphiniums, blue roses and blue sweet peas come in lighter shades of blue. Varieties of yellow flowers include gerbera daisies, marigolds, roses, lilies, tulips, daffodils and sunflowers. Ribbons, vases and other floral accessories can also be used to incorporate your light blue and yellow theme.

Though flowers are a traditional centrepiece for guests' dining tables, display tables, gift tables and serving tables, there are a plethora of other centrepiece options. Consider tall light blue and yellow candles; floating candles; clear bowls filled with pale blue and/or yellow decorative craft rocks, coloured glass or seashells; origami made with light blue or yellow paper; or a picture of the newlyweds in appropriate-coloured frames.

Whether your wedding and reception take place outside or inside, coloured lights for a night celebration are always a romantic touch. Consider using regular and pale blue twinkle lights or Chinese paper ball lights or lanterns. Additionally, create a lovely backdrop by draping light blue and yellow filmy cloth behind the wedding cake, gift table, or bride and groom in a receiving line. Natural room elements, like a banister or loft overview, can be offset with wide rolls of light blue or yellow ribbons or tulle.

Table and Chairs

Guest chairs are often covered for more formal events. If you can cover your chairs with a light blue or yellow covering, consider tying light blue or yellow ribbons around the chair back. Finish the ribbon off with a big bow, located on the chair's back end so the bow doesn't get smashed by a seated guest. Tablecloths can be light blue and accented by yellow napkins, or vice versa. Look for place settings that match your colour theme.

Though a white wedding cake is still traditional, many bakers create cakes in any colour you prefer -- a light blue and yellow frosted cake is not beyond the realm of possibility. If you prefer a more traditional white cake, light blue and yellow ribbons or flowers can add your colour theme to one of your wedding's main attractions. If you would rather serve cupcakes rather than a cake, your cupcakes can easily be decorated with light blue or yellow frosting or accents.
