For members and regular attendees, the church community is an extension of the family. For many, the church represents a place of comfort and a place to which they can turn in times of need. The impact a church makes on its community is significant. When a church has been in service for 25 years, it is only fitting to have a celebration to recognise this milestone.

Church Memory Wall

Choose a wall in the foyer or another area of the church and create a memory wall. Include pictures of past pastoral staff, newspaper clippings, a timeline of significant events, photos of the church and its members over the past 25 years. Try to find a copy of the church's first bulletin. Ask church members to contribute mementos for the wall well in advance of the celebration.

Silver Pew Bows

As silver is the colour of the 25th anniversary, adorn the pews of the church with large silver bows. Make "Reserved" signs that hang from the bows to reserve special seats for honoured guests such as speakers, musicians, previous pastors and family and community leaders who will be in attendance.

Large Banner

Design and either make or order a large vinyl banner to mark the occasion. Include wording such as, "Celebrating Our 25th Year of Serving Christ and Community" on the banner. Hang the banner outside the church. To let the members of the community know that they are invited to join in the celebration, design and either make or order a smaller banner listing details about the celebration like time and date. Hang the smaller banner on a notice board or door in the church.

Church Family Photo

A few weeks prior to the celebration, ask members and regular attendees to join together for a group photograph. Ask everyone to dress in "Sunday best" clothes. Take the picture outside, with the church in the background. If the weather doesn't permit an outdoor photo, take it in the sanctuary. Have the picture enlarged and framed and unveil it during the church anniversary celebration to utilise it as part of the decorations.
