Enjoying a good football with a cold beer in a bar where everybody's focused on the TV screen is almost as good as going to the arena itself. Though a completely different experience, some would argue that it's even better. And if you find yourself in Rio de Janeiro while the World Cup is taking place, you'll probably not make it to every game. Devassa

This is not a single bar, but a chain of them. It's very well known and liked. It offers a great variety of beers, local, international and some of their own brewery. Their brews follow a specific naming pattern. In Devassa, you wouldn't ask for a Lager, but for a Blonde. There are no Red Ales here, only Redheads, no Bock or Stout, but Índias. They also have a broad menu with many Brazilian specialties. Located in Ipanema, on Avenida Vieira Souto 110, this bar has a very interesting menu and an interior design that charms locals and foreigners alike. It has an excellent beverage menu, with the famous caipirinha and a broad selection of ice-cold beers. Its a very popular place, it has a very nice terrace overlooking the beach and it's staffed by very friendly waiters. It's hands down the best example of Brazilian hospitality you'll find.

Bar e Botequim Manoel & Juaquim

This bar has an excellent service and we highly recommend it. And in addition to the drinks, which keep up with the great quality of Brazilian refreshments, it has a very tasty and varied menu. You should definitely check it yourself. It has several branches spread throughout the city, all with comfortable indoor rooms and sheltered outside tables. This bar is located in Barra da Tijuca, on Av. Olegario Maciel 231 loja H, and is considered by the locals as the most bohemian place to drink. It has a very nice outdoor terrace with a good number of tables and many TVs to watch football matches on. The atmosphere is nice, the beer is served ice-cold and the service is unbeatable.
