The APN setting on the Sidekick tells the device which GSM data network to connect with. If your Sidekick has a data plan but cannot use the Internet, check the APN. If the setting is incorrect, the Sidekick won't browse the Web, cannot use instant messaging or the backup feature, and cannot send and receive e-mail and MMS. Without the correct APN, the Sidekick can make and receive calls and text messages, but that's about it. The phone may display an error message indicating the APN is incorrect.
