The way to transfer your contacts from your BlackBerry device to your computer is by using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software installed on the computer. The BlackBerry Desktop Manager software is free to download and use. Obtain the software from the BlackBerry website and install the desktop manager on the computer you will use to synchronise your device. Using the desktop manager software, you will be able to transfer your contacts, e-mails, appointments and other data.

    Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software on the computer.

    Plug the BlackBerry into the computer using the USB connector cable. The device will register in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software, and the device's PIN will appear in the bottom right corner of the main screen of the desktop manager.

    Click the "Synchronize" option. The Synchronize screen launches.

    Click the link labelled "Synchronization" in the left navigation pane, and then click the "Synchronization" button. A list of possible syncing applications will appear including the options of "Calendars," "Memo Pad," "Addresses" and "Tasks."

    Check the check box in front of the "Addresses" option. A list of programs installed on the computer that may contain "Contacts" appears. For example, "Microsoft Outlook," "Yahoo," plus other options may appear, depending on the programs installed that may be used to organise and save your contacts.

    Click the application that you use to manage your "Contacts." For example, if you use the Microsoft Outlook program, click "Microsoft Outlook."

    Click the radio button for the desired "Sync Direction" option for your calendar. Options are "Two-Way Sync," "One-Way Sync from the BlackBerry" and "One-Way Sync to the BlackBerry." If you just want to transfer contacts from the BlackBerry to the computer only, select the second option, "One-Way Sync from the BlackBerry." Click "Next."

    Click the "Finish" button. The Synchronization window reappears.

    Check the check box in front of the "Synchronize Address Data" and then click the "Synchronize" button. The transfer progress bar will show the progression of the transfer. A notification will appear when the transfer is complete. Your contacts are now transferred from your BlackBerry device to your computer.
