How to Install the NetGear Wireless G Router WGR614V9

The WGR614v9 is a series of wireless routers produced by Netgear. The WGR614v9 is designed to integrate into home and small business environments with a single Internet connection, such as cable or DSL, which needs to be shared among multiple computers. The WGR614v9 complies with the 802.11g wireless standard and supports wireless clients with speeds up to 54 megabits per second. The WGR614v9 also supports wireless encryption for secure communications. You can install the Netgear WGR614v9 to share your high speed Internet connection.

    Power off the Internet connection device, such as a cable or DSL modem.

    Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Internet connection device.

    Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the yellow port on the back of the WGR614v9.

    Power on the Internet connection device and wait approximately two minutes for the signal to synchronise.

    Power on the WGR614v9 and wait approximately 30 seconds for it to initialise.

    Connect any wired computers to the router with Ethernet cables.

    Connect any wireless computers to the "NETGEAR" wireless network. No wireless security is in place, by default.

Tips and warnings

  • Configure wireless security, and other options, in the WGR614v9's administration interface. Open a Web browser and type "" without quotes into the address bar, then press "Enter." Type "admin" and "password" for the username and password, respectively, both without quotes. Refer to the user guide for further configuration instructions and information.
