Toshiba Satellite laptop computers come in a wide range of models, each with a distinct set of specifications. Each model is equipped with a basic input/output system, or BIOS, utility that allows you to modify hardware settings. If you've changed some of these settings and it has caused problems with your system, reset the BIOS to factory defaults.

Turn the computer off. Wait for it to power down completely.
Turn the laptop back on. Press the "F2" key repeatedly during the boot up until the BIOS menu appears.
Press the "F9" key when the BIOS menu is displayed. Basic BIOS settings reset to factory defaults.
Press the right arrow key once to navigate to the "Advanced" tab. Press the "F9" key to reset the Advanced settings to factory defaults.
Repeat Step 4 to move across all tabs, resetting each one with the "F9" key.
Press the "F10" key. Press the arrow keys to highlight "Yes" to confirm that you wish to save changes and exit the BIOS.
