The Epson Stylus CX3200 combines a printer, scanner, copier and fax machine in one unit. The CX3200 uses an inkjet printhead, rather than a toner cartridge. The ink cartridges in the printhead have several nozzles that transfer the ink to the page. If these nozzles clog, the quality of the prints output by the printer diminishes. To clear clogged nozzles, the CX3200 includes a cleaning function, which accessed from the control panel on the printer itself.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Load at least two pieces of standard paper into the paper tray on the top of the printer.

  2. 2

Press the "Menu" button on the control panel of the CX3200 repeatedly until "Head Cleaning" displays on the LCD screen.

  3. 3

Press the "Color Copy" button to initiate the cleaning cycle, which takes approximately 30 seconds.

  4. 4

Press the "Menu" button on the control panel until "Nozzle Check" is displayed on the LCD screen.

  5. 5

Press the "Color Copy" button to initiate the nozzle check cycle.

  6. 6

Look at the printout after the nozzle check cycle completes. Ensure that there are no streaks or gaps and that the vertical lines are straight. If there are streaks or gaps, repeat the cleaning cycle.

  7. 7

Press the "Stop" button to complete the cleaning process.
