How to Convert Sibelius to a PDF

Sibelius is a computer score-writing program created by Sibelius Software. With Sibelius you can write, edit, print scores in addition to playing music, scanning scores, and publishing scores on the Internet. The newest version of Sibelius -- Sibelius 6 -- comes with additional features such as magnetic layout and track changes. To send scores to others, you can convert your Sibelius files to PDF if you have GhostScript, GSView, and a PostScript printer driver installed on your computer.

Install a PostScript printer driver on your computer by going to the control panel, clicking "Printers" and "Add Printer." Follow the prompts, but ensure that you add a local printer that prints to "FILE:" You don't need the printer itself, but you do need the driver. One of these drivers was included in the Windows CD-ROM that came with your computer.

Download and install GhostScript and GSView. Both of these are free programs.

Open the Sibelius file that you would like to convert to PDF.

Click on "File" within the Sibelius program and then click on "Print." Choose the name of the printer driver you installed in Step 1.

Click "Print" and save the .prn file to your desktop.

Open GSView and open the .prn file you just saved to your desktop.

Click "File" with GSView and then click on "Convert." Choose "pdfwrite" and click "OK." Save the file to a location of your choice, but remember to add the extension ".pdf" to the file.
