If you are considering a piercing but don't want to make it permanent yet, try faking it. Put the fake piercing where you would want the real piercing to go and wear it around for a while to see if you really like it, or just wear a fake piercing for the fun of it. Some piercings can be successfully faked without a lot of effort.

  1. 1

Purchase magnetic jewellery. The magnetic jewellery comes with a decorative front piece and a second piece that you put behind the decorative piece. The two pieces will attract each other when put on opposite sides of the skin. Magnetic jewellery includes items for the ears, nose and even the mouth. When you are done using them, just remove them from your skin.

  2. 2

Use a skin-safe adhesive on the back of a body jewel or rhinestone. Press the rhinestone to the part of your body that you want to "pierce," such as your nose. Remove the rhinestone by slowly peeling it off your skin.

  3. 3

Look for fake piercings at retail stores. These will give the illusion of a piercing by clamping down on the

skin without going through it. Just put the fake piercing around the body part you want pierced. They usually come in a hoop shape and are good for the ears, nose and eyebrows.

Tips and warnings

  • If you are allergic to any type of metal, check to see if the fake piercings contain that metal. Avoid buying items that contain metal to which you are allergic. Even though the piercing is not going through your body, it will still have contact with your body. This could lead to irritation of the skin.
