Little girls often want to dress up like fairy princesses, and the perfect accessory for this costume is a floral head wreath. This floral crown can be made out of any type of silk flower, and in any colour. It can have long flowing ribbons to match the child’s fairy princess dress. This handmade item can be made out of simple, affordable materials.

  1. 1

Measure the child’s head and bend 18-gauge florist's wire in a circle to that size. Cover the place where the ends of the wire join with florist's tape. If you need two pieces of wire to complete the circle, secure them together at both ends with florist's tape.

  2. 2

Cut silk flowers apart, leaving a 3-inch stem on each flower. Cut apart silk baby’s breath filler, also leaving a 3-inch stem.

  3. 3

Tape together two flowers and a small bunch of baby’s breath with florist's tape, leaving the 3-inch stem.

  4. 4

Attach this bunch of flowers to the wire circle with florist’s tape. Make a second bunch of flowers and attach this just under the spot where you attached the first bunch. Continue making bunches of flowers and taping them in place until the wire circle is covered with flowers and there are no obvious holes in the arrangement.

  5. 5

Cut three 1-yard lengths of ribbon in colours matching the child’s costume, and tie them at their middles to the back of the head wreath. Trim the ribbon ends at an angle.
