How to Find People to Chat With on MSN Windows Live Messenger

If you're bored at home and want to find other Windows Live users to chat with, you can do a profile search or add people directly from your e-mail contact book. You may find old friends or family members on the program you did not know used the service. Not only can you pass the time catching up, but you can reconnect with the online messaging service. You can even find people you don't know and create new friendships through Windows Live Messenger.

    Search for Contacts

    Download Windows Live Messenger. Log in using your user name and password.

    Complete the automatic search wizard. Give Windows Live permission to access your e-mail contact book.

    Complete the wizard by click "next". Windows Live will automatically send invites to your friends in your e-mail book that have Windows Live Messenger. Once the invites are accepted you will see them appear on your friends list to chat.

    Peruse Profiles

    Log into your Windows Live account with your user name and password.

    Type a name into the search box on the friends list. Click the magnify glass to search.

  3. 3

    Choose "Search Profiles" and a new window will launch with matching profiles.

  4. 4

    Click "Add as Friend" and an invite will be sent to the individual. Once they accept the request you can chat.
