How to Make a 3D Duck Cake

Updated July 20, 2017

Duck cakes are popular cakes for baby showers and kids birthday parties. Making a 3D duck cake can seem like a daunting task but it is relatively easy thanks to the 3D duck baking pan that is available for purchase at Walmart, Michaels or online stores such as ThePartyWorks. Once you have this pan baking the cake is easy. All you need is your favourite cake mix, coloured icing and maybe a few plastic ducks to decorate the table with.

Bake your favourite cake mix in the 3D rubber duck pan. Follow the direction on the cake pan box exactly. Let cool.

Place the cake on a tray and ice your duck using yellow icing. Smooth orange icing onto the beak portion of the cake and use white for the eyes. Place 2 blue M&Ms in the centre of each eye.

Cover your serving tray in blue wrapping paper or cellophane to represent water. Tape the paper to the underside of the tray.

Move the cake over to your serving tray. Carefully place it in the centre. Place small plastic ducks around the cake to act like baby ducks.

You can also bake chocolate cupcakes and ice them with blue icing and then place these around the 3D duck cake to further represent water.
