How to Use Evite for a Child's Birthday

Updated April 17, 2017

Does your child have a birthday party coming up? Do you want to invite all of his friends and playmates without buying invitations? The free Evite website enables registered individuals to design and send electronic invitations to an event. This site provides a number of categories for different events, such as "Child's First Birthday," or "Birthday for Kids." Once users complete and send an electronic invitation, Evite sets up an "event" page for the specific function that can show who the event organiser has invited and which guests already have submitted an RSVP.

Open your web browser and then navigate to the Evite website.

Click the "Register" button in the top right corner of the screen if you do not have an account or click the "Sign In" button if you previously used Evite. Register an account by entering your name, e-mail address, a password for the site, your gender and date of birth, country and Postcode and then click "Register." Sign in by entering your e-mail address and password.

Click on the "Create an Invitation" button on the right side of the screen.

Click on the "Birthday for Kids" link under the heading "Occasions."

Select a background design for the invitation by clicking on it. You can scroll through the available backgrounds by clicking on the right and left arrow buttons underneath the background currently displayed. Alternatively, scroll through the available backgrounds by clicking through each page of eight designs.

Fill out the text boxes on Evite's "Event Details" page. Evite requires you to enter information for "Event Title" (such as "Mike's Fourth Birthday Party!"), "Event Type," the name of the person sending the invitation, and the date and time the event begins and ends. You also can fill in additional information that places your address, phone number and a brief message into the electronic invitation.

Click the "Next Step" button in the bottom right corner of the screen to proceed to the "Add Guests" page. You can first click the "Preview Invitation" to see how the details you entered in the previous step will appear on the electronic invitation.

Enter the email addresses of all guests. Evite gives three options for completing this step: you can enter each e-mail address manually, you can import contacts from your e-mail address book (for instance, or Google Mail) or you can choose invitees from a list of contacts stored on Evite's website if you have used this service in the past. Click the "Add to Guest List" button after you have entered the email addresses of all the invited guests.

Proceed to the "Invite Options" page by clicking the "Next Step" button in the bottom right corner of the page.

Fill out the text boxes on the "Invite Options" page to complete the electronic invitation. Evite does not mandate that you fill out any of these options; however, the site lets you choose to receive notifications each time someone RSVPs to your event, and lets you choose options such as permitting invited guests to bring friends or comment upon the electronic invitation.

Click the "Finish & Send" button in the lower right corner of the screen to deliver the electronic invitation for your child's upcoming birthday event.
