Since the release of "Roller Coaster Tycoon" in 1999, the game franchise has brought in more than £65 million. It owes its popularity to in-depth game modes and scenarios that allow the gamer to build a theme park from the ground up. "Soaked!" was the first expansion pack released for "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3." It lets gamers create water parks. Gamers must have a copy of the original "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3" on their computer to access the expansion pack. Instructions

  1. 1

Manage your park's finances. Open the finance window. Increase the loan amount by £6,500. This can be done by clicking the up arrow next to your budget amount. This money will be used to pay for the creation of your park.

  2. 2

Build the park's infrastructure. In order for the theme park to be successful, it is important that guests have access to each attraction and structure. Using the "Path Construction" tool located in the main navigation bar, select the "Pathway" button. Use your cursor to highlight the area where you want to place the path, then click to construct it. Build a pathway that runs from the park entrance to the vicinity of each structure. Do not directly connect the pathway to the entrance of each ride. Select the "Queue Line" button. Connect the entrances of each structure to the main pathway via queue lines. This allows guests to line up when waiting to use an attraction.

  3. 3

Landscape your park. Maintaining a high park rating is important because it will determine the number of guests who will visit your theme park. Click the "Scenery and Gardens" icon in the main navigation bar. Cycle through the options until you reach something that catches your eye such as the waterfall. Click to select it then use your cursor to highlight the area where you want to place it. Click to place the object onto the map. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with your park's landscaping.

  4. 4

Build Shops. Shops help bring in park revenue by providing items that guests can either rent or purchase. Click the "New Rides & Attractions" button in the main navigation bar to bring up the construction menu. Select the "Stalls" tab to bring up a list of shops. Build a "Wave Pool Rental Office" to allow guests to rent equipment for use in the wave pools. Build a "Sun Lotion" stall to ensure guests are comfortable under the sun. It is also important to build "Swimsuit" stalls to make sure guests have access to swimsuits if they forgot to pack one.

  5. 5

Build rides. Guests will visit your park depending on the types of rides it features. Click the "New Rides & Attractions" button in the main navigation bar to bring up the construction menu. Select the different rides tabs to cycle through the different types of structures. Click on a ride to select it, then use your cursor to highlight the area where you want to place it. Click to place the object onto the map. Certain rides such as the wave pool bring in park revenue because guests must first buy equipment in order to have access to the attraction. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with the number of rides in your park.

  6. 6

Manage your staff. Staff members will manage most aspects of your theme park, helping to maintain a high park rating. Click the "Staff" button located in the top navigation bar. Hire handymen to water plants, clean pathways, and maintain flower arrangements. Handymen will also maintain the cleanliness of pools. Hire security guards to protect guests and patrol for crimes. Hire entertainers to keep guests entertained while waiting in long queue lines. Staff members can be hired by selecting the specific type, then by clicking the "Hire" button located in the top right corner of the window.

Tips and warnings

  • If the expansion fails to load, reinstall the original "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3," then reinstall the expansion.
  • Cluster water rides that have the same properties together. For example, water rides that require a swimsuit should be placed together.
