How to Fold Paper Napkins With Plastic Ware in Them

Updated April 17, 2017

Napkin folds are an important part of dinner table presentation, and can help make the difference between an ordinary and extraordinary table setting. Although specialised napkin folds are usually done with cloth napkins and sometimes include metal flatware, you can also fold paper napkins with plastic ware in them to dress up fun and informal occasions such as picnic, barbecue or other outdoor activity.

Lay your napkin down on a flat, sturdy surface with the right side facing toward you.

Fold the napkin in half and then repeat, folding it in half again.

Position the closed side so it faces toward the right, fold the topmost layer of the napkin in half diagonally and press it down.

Flip your napkin over and fold the left side one-third of the way toward the middle. Do the same on the right side, tucking the bottom parts together.

Flip the napkin back over with the front side facing toward you. Slide your plastic ware into the pocket.

Lay your paper napkin down on a flat, sturdy surface.

Fold the napkin in half lengthwise, laying the plastic ware down on top after folding.

Roll the napkin from one end to the other, keeping the plastic ware inside. Slip the roll into a napkin ring or tie in the centre with a ribbon.
