How to Make a Seashell Jewelry Box

Updated February 21, 2017

If you enjoy collecting colourful seashells at the beach, you may think that the only way to display them is to set them on shelves or place them in bowls. However, you can use the seashells as a craft material to decorate a blank craft box. Once the seashell box is finished, you can use it as a jewellery box to hold special jewellery and trinkets that you purchased while visiting the beach.

Place a blank craft box onto a sheet of newspaper. This will protect your table while you apply seashells onto the box.

Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun. Plug the gun into an outlet and allow the gun to heat for 5 minutes.

Squeeze a pea-sized dollop of hot glue onto the outside of the blank box. Press a small seashell onto the glue, and hold it in place for 2 minutes until the glue hardens.

Repeat this process to cover the entire surface of the box and the box lid with small seashells.

Squeeze a dime-sized dollop of hot glue onto the centre of the box lid, and press a larger seashell onto the hot glue. Hold the shell in place for 2 minutes until the glue hardens. You can now use the seashell box as a jewellery box.

Be careful when using hot glue, and keep the hot glue gun out of children's reach.
