How to Replace the Cartridge on a Canon Pixma MP520

Updated February 21, 2017

The Canon Pixma MP520 is a high resolution all-in-one photo printer. The MP520 uses three colour cartridges for magenta, cyan and yellow ink. It has a single black ink cartridge. When the ink level on any of the cartridges runs low, it may result in streaking or blank spaces appearing on the printed material. Replace the low cartridge to keep printed materials looking their best.

Lift open the front tray. Move the cover support tab into its slot to hold the tray open.

Push in the tab on the front of the cartridge to unlock it. Lift the cartridge straight up to remove it from its compartment.

Pull the orange tape off of the bottom of the cartridge. Be sure to pull in the direction indicated by the printed arrow.

Pull the orange cap off of the print head.

Insert the front of the ink cartridge into the compartment. Press down on the "push" sticker on the top of the cartridge until it snaps into place.

Fold the tray support arm down. Close the front tray.
