Batman and Robin, that dynamic iconic duo whose popularity has withstood the test of time, continue to be popular choices for Halloween costumes. Whereas it is typically easy to find a variety of Batman costumes to fit almost every size, locating the perfect Robin costume can present a challenge. Fortunately, making a Robin costume at home can be completed with ease provided you have the right materials and a bit of time. An added bonus is the originality that will come with something homemade.

  1. 1

Trim off the arms of the red T-shirt using a pair of scissors.

  2. 2

Cut out a circle with a 3-inch diameter from a piece of black felt. Cut out an "R" from a piece of yellow felt that is 3-inches tall. Glue the letter in the centre of the black circle using fabric glue. Allow it to dry.

  3. 3

Glue the black felt circle with the yellow R symbol onto the left side of the red T-shirt using fabric glue. Let it dry.

  4. 4

Shorten the black Halloween cape by using a scissors to trim it to knee-length. If the cape has a high collar, cut it off.

  5. 5

Cut the legs off of a pair of red shorts so the shorts resemble a swimming costume bottom.

  6. 6

Measure two places where eye holes should be in the centre of the 3 inch-by-3 foot piece of black cloth. Be careful to accurately measure the placement of the eyes on the person the costume is intended for as the space between an individual's eyes can vary. Once you have determined the proper placement, mark the fabric with a fabric pen (on the back) and cut two matching eye holes into the black cloth.

  7. 7

Put on a pair of green trousers or tights and a long-sleeved green shirt or have the person who will be wearing the costume put on the garments. It is best if the trousers and shirt fit snugly. Put on the red T-shirt over the green shirt and put on the red shorts over the green trousers or tights. Place the yellow canvas belt around the waist. Put on a pair of black boots or shoes and then put on the cape. Tie the mask in front of the eyes and make certain the holes in the fabric are located properly so you, or the individual wearing the costume, can see properly.
