Unlike other types of tile flooring, which are secured using adhesive and grout, and become semi-permanent fixtures in a bathroom once installed, interlocking tile sheets do not use any adhesive. When you lay interlocking tile sheets, you create a "floating floor", which is flooring that is not secured in any way to the subfloor beneath, meaning it can be removed from the floor at any time. Aside from the ability to change your flooring on a whim, the other major benefit of interlocking tile sheets is the simple installation.

Things you need
- Waterproof underlay
- Interlocking tile sheets
- Heavy-duty scissors
Install a waterproof underlay over the subfloor if the subfloor is wood. Roll out the underlay on the floor and cut the underlay so that it fits the length of the room. Remove the adhesive backing and press the underlay down against the floor, smoothing it out as you go along. If the underlay does not span the width of the room, cut a second piece of the same length and overlap the pieces by ½ to 1 inch.
Lay interlocking tile sheets out over the bathroom floor to determine the best lay out. If you have space at the edges of the room where a whole tile won't fit, use a pair of heavy-duty scissors to trim the edge tiles down to size. You must also cut down tiles to fit around your bathroom fixtures, such as the bathtub and toilet.
Lock the tile sheets together. Line the edges of the sheets up so that the tabs of one sheet line up with the tabs or pins of the adjacent sheets, depending upon the type of interlocking tile sheets you are installing. Press the sheets together so that tabs on each interlocking sheet slide between each other or the pins of one sheet press down into the tabs of the adjacent sheet.
Continue to the lock the tile sheets together across the room until all of the tiles are interlocked. Some interlocking tile manufacturers offer interlocking tabbed borders that can be locked to the outside edges of the tile sheets if you want a clean finish.
