How to Tell if a Man Is Attracted to You Through Body Language

Updated July 20, 2017

According to, "What a Guy Likes," most men are open books and their body language gives them away and women have a natural sixth sense to sense if a man is checking her out. The nonverbal cues a man gives off can speak louder than words. Woman can try to figure out what is going on in a man's mind by watching his movements closely. Reading body language is not an exact science; however, it can help clue you in to whether or not a man is attracted to you. This can really help a woman decide where to send her attention when in a social situation if she is interested in finding someone special.

Observe his eyes. Eye contact is a telltale sign of interest. Maintain direct eye contact and see if he does the same. If he does, this is a sign that he is comfortable around you. If you happen to catch a man looking at you and then quickly turning away, it is likely that you caught his eye from across the room. After he saunters over to talk to you, look at his pupils. Sexual desire is a common cause of pupil dilation. His interest may not be as strong as a desire for sex. It may be that he wants to get to know you better. Pay careful attention to the eyebrows. Raising the eyebrows is a universal sign of attraction. The eyebrow raise lasts less than a second and is usually be coupled with a smile. Pay close attention.

Observe preening and primping behaviour. When a man smooths his hair or straightens his collar, he is self-conscious of his appearance and is anxious to be as attractive as possible. By sticking out his chest or flashing his biceps, he tries to accentuate his size. When a man feels a connection with you, he wants to look his best and "show off" his best assets. See if he flexes his biceps to give the impression of more muscle tone or sucks in his stomach to give the impression of firm abs.

Pay attention to any physical contact. Touching or grazing is a sign that a man is attracted to you. A push of the hair out of your eyes or touch of your shoulder are clues that he enjoys touching you. An open palm towards you is a sign that he wants to connect with you on a deeper level.

Take note of how he positions his body. According to "Go Get Guys," a man is attracted to a woman if his body is always pointing to the direction of the woman. This is also true of leaning, as most men tend to lean toward a woman to which they are attracted. If you lean away from a man and he responds by leaning closer, it is a sign that he is interested in you.
