The Bose Acoustimass surround-sound system is a speaker set-up that can be connected to your home theatre system, allowing you to get high-quality sound while watching movies, playing video games or listening to music. Once you set up this system, however, you may encounter problems including no sound coming from the speakers, which is a relatively easy fix, unless the product itself is malfunctioning.

Start the system so that sound should be playing through the speakers. Make sure the receiver is set to the proper input for the system you are attempting to use.
Adjust the volume levels on the receiver to make sure they are not at zero. Do this by turning the volume knob or pressing the volume "Up" button. If the device you are using has volume controls, adjust the volume to a higher level. Press the menu button on the receiver and adjust the volume for each speaker to ensure these volume levels are not at zero.
Check the connection from the device you are attempting to use to the receiver unit. Ensure that the proper audio cables are in the correct inputs on the back of the receiver. The white and red wires should be connected to the white and red inputs on both devices. If they are and the speakers are still not working, move on.
Check the connections of all of the Bose speakers to the amplifier. Each speaker should be connected to the proper input on the back of the receiver. These inputs will be labelled by the speaker position. Make sure each speaker is plugged into the correct input and that there is no damage to the wires.
Connect the Bose surround-sound speakers to another receiver if you are still not getting any sound. If you do not have another working receiver, borrow one from a friend or family member. If the speakers work with another receiver, there is a hardware problem with your receiver. If the speakers still do not work, there is a hardware problem with your speakers and you will need to contact Bose customer support (see "Resources").
