Marionette lines happen with age. These wrinkles appear on the side of the mouth running down to the chin, and resemble the movable mouth of a Howdy Doody marionette or a ventriloquist's dummy. These lines are some of the most difficult wrinkles to eliminate totally. Some over-the-counter treatments make the wrinkles less obvious. Plastic surgery is can eliminate them, but is pricey and invasive. Less invasive options include collagen injections and facial exercises. Facial exercises tone muscles and send more oxygen to the face.

Sit in a low-back chair with room to tilt your head backwards.
Bring your head straight back so you're looking at the ceiling. Move your mouth in a chewing motion. Repeat at least twenty times once or twice a day. Bring your head forward and relax.
Bring your head back to look at the ceiling again. Purse your lips and release. Do this ten times. Bring your head forward, tilt it back again, and repeat. Complete this exercise once or twice a day.
Apply an over-the-counter wrinkle-reducing cream to the marionette lines. Look for creams containing retinol, a Vitamin A derivative which is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat wrinkles. Vitamin A is the active ingredient in the prescription-only wrinkle cream Retin A.
Visit a dermatologist for collagen and botox injections, if exercises and topical creams do not produce satisfactory results. Botox injections paralyse the facial muscles in a given area, which allows the skin to smooth itself over time; Botox can remove or reduce wrinkles for up to six months. Or, schedule plastic surgery to permanently eliminate the wrinkles.
