How to Reset the BIOS Password on a Latitude XT

In order to reset the BIOS password on your Dell Latitude XT laptop computer, you'll have to have that password in order to access the BIOS configuration program. Your Latitude XT did not ship with a password protected BIOS, so any password that you are prompted for is one that was specified on the user level. The BIOS password can be reset at any time you decide.

    Turn on your Dell Latitude XT.

    Press the "F2" keyboard key. This will open your Dell Latitude XT BIOS. Type your current BIOS password and press "Enter."

    Highlight "Security" from the column of options on the left side of the BIOS screen. Press "Enter" to expand this listing into a series of options, all of which are selectable.

    Highlight "Password." Press "Enter."

    Highlight "Remove Password." Press "Enter" and type your current password. Press the "Y" key to reset your Dell Latitude XT BIOS password.
